I will not be in love with these photos of Sydney and Alex. Sydney has been my hairstylist since I started college, to say she has become a huge part of my life would be an understatement. Many of our appointments were spent talking about our businesses, possible photoshoots and our relationships, I always wanted to take photos of this girl! Finally, the day came when we got to celebrate her engagement to Alex! When she reached out to ask me to take their photos, I knew we had to do something epic, go somewhere I wouldn’t typically go. This was not your typical photoshoot, this had been many years of built-up anticipation and excitement. 

Sydney is not your average wear-all-white kind of fiance, when she told me about her outfits I wanted to find a location that gave off a a vibe as captivating as she was. This led us to a little spot in Vantage Washington. 

When the day came to take the photos, it was windy. I do not mean a little gust here and there, I am talking 30+ mph winds, winds that could catch you off balance. I warned Sydney and Alex that this shoot was going to take some patience but if they were willing to trust me, the photos would be unlike anything I had done before. 

Our session started by walking up to some cool rock formations, we did some walking, some talking, and some laughing. Only a few minutes into our shoot, a man with a banjo, shorts tied with a shoestring, and wearing flip-flops walked over to us and asked us what we were doing. We briefly explained that these two were engaged and we were taking their engagement photos. He proceeded to serenade Sydney and Alex with lyrics of love… or something like that. Sydney was half convinced that I had hired the strange man to sing for them, this was in fact, just a very very random fluke. There was no lack of laughter at this moment. 

We continued with the songs of this strange man in the background, walking, dancing, and laughing while the wind whistled in our ears. As we got in our cars to drive home, Sydney sent me a text about how much Alex wasn’t a huge fan of photoshoots but he had so much fun during this one. I will forever remember how much love and laughter went into their engagement shoot and I am honored to say I will be shooting their wedding in 2025!
